Jeanne Simpson

Jeanne currently serves as a Secondary Math Specialist for AMSTI-UAH. She taught middle and high school mathematics for seventeen years before becoming a Math Specialist for the Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative in 2007. She holds a National Board Certification in Early Adolescent Mathematics, and she has master's degrees in Integrating Classroom Technology and in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Jeanne is an Alabama OGAP facilitator for Fractional and Proportional Reasoning. She is a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics, the Alabama Mathematics Leadership Alliance, and a member of the Executive Board of the Alabama Council of Teachers of Mathematics. She is also an Illustrative Mathematics fertified facilitator.

6-12 Specialist

Le Shell Smith

 Le Shell Smith is currently a Secondary Mathematics Specialist at AMSTI-UAH.  Prior to her current position, Le Shell was a secondary mathematics teacher. Le Shell has experience teaching seventh grade through AP Calculus. In 2000 and 2014, she was named Teacher of the Year for her district. Le Shell develops and pilots professional learning  to meet the needs of educators in our state. She is the liason for K-5 mathematics coaches and administrators for our region. Le Shell is an OGAP facilitator for Fractional and Proportional Reasoning, She is also an ISTE Certified Educator. She currently serves as President of the Alabama Mathematics Leadership Alliance. She is a member of the Alabama Council of Teacher of Mathematics, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics, and International Society for Technology in Education.
