K-1 Specialist

Beth Balch

Beth serves as a K-1 Science and Math Specialist for AMSTI-UAH. Her diverse professional background includes Marketing/Graphic Design, Elementary Education, as well as Instructional Design and Technology. As an elementary classroom teacher, Beth was awarded the John Frank Parker Making a Difference Award for the Hartselle City Schools system. She is a member of the National Science Teachers Association and the Alabama Science Teachers Association.

2-3 Specialist

Shundra Morris

Shundra is the 2nd-3rd Grade Science Specialist for AMSTI-UAH. This is her second year in this capacity. Shundra taught 3rd grade for 23 years in Decatur City Schools. She is a governing board member for the AAMU/UAH Regional Inservice Center. She is a member of the Alabama Science Teacher Association and of the National Science Teacher Association. She is also a Common Sense Certified Educator.

4-5 Specialist

Ellen Thompson

Ellen is the 4th and 5th grade Science Specialist at AMSTI-UAH. She has been an elementary science trainer since 1992 and has thirty-three years as an educator in Alabama. She has served on the AAMU/UAH Regional Inservice Center Board as well as the Alabama Science Teachers Association Board of Directors. She recently renewed her Middle Childhood National Board Certification and is a member of the National Science Teaching Association, the Alabama Science Teachers Association and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. She holds a Master’s Degree, a Class AA Certificate, and an Instructional Leadership Certificate.
